Deceased Name: Rita S. Norvitch SERVICES: A gathering of family and friends will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Michaels on the Course in Virginia. Private family burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by the Landmark Funeral Home in Virginia. Rita S. Norvitch, 74, of Virginia, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Duluth, to Abraham and Sarah (Lavick) Evans, and grew up there. She married Harold Norvitch in Duluth on Aug. 10, 1952, and had been a Virginia resident since her marriage. Rita worked for So-Fro Fabrics and as a bookkeeper for Norvitch Oil Co. Survivors include two sons, Benjamin (Marla) Norvitch of Ely Lake, Eveleth, Steven (Sheryl) Norvitch of Mountain Iron; one daughter, Annette (Dennis) Behm of Aledo, Texas; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold L. Norvitch on Sept. 20, 1994; one sister, Rose Evans; and two brothers, Sherman Evans and Howard Evans.
